The population of Ault, Colorado, as of the census of 2000, there were 1,432 people, 540 households, and 381 families residing in the town. The racial breakdown of the town was 79.47% White, 0.07% African American, 0.91% Native American, 0.42% Asian, 16.76% from other races, and 2.37% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 30.24% of the population.
Ault was established in in 1897 and named after Alexander Ault from Fort Collins, Colorado, who owned the four mill in the village. The town was incorporated in 1904. Ault, Colorado isn't large enough to warrent an alcohol or drug rehab center, but history has shown that small towns are not exempt from alcohol and drug problems, in fact, there is some evidence that they may have a larger problem on a per capita basis that the bigger cities.
