Bailey, Colorado is a small mountain town in the foothills of the Front Range, approximately 30 miles southwest of Denver along U.S. Highway 285. Bailey is situated in the mountains at 7765 feet, and enjoys the typical cool Colorado mountain summers and snowy winters. The town is named after William Newman Bailey, a rancer who built a station known as Bailey's Ranch in 1864. Later he built a hotel at the station and thow eventually became knows as Bailey. The Bailey Post office opened in 1878.
The town is famous for the Coney Island Colorado (commonly The Coney Island )which a 1950's diner shaped like a giant hot dog, with toppings. In our investigation of drug problems in Bailey, itself, we found nothing of significance, but we did find that there are problems in the comunnity that are always associated with alcohol and drug abuse and addiction .
